Paper Filing Collateral Description Requirements
According to Section 1(e) of the Article 9 Rules adopted in Wyoming on June 26, 2013:
"The filing office shall require a remitter to provide the collateral description in a
plain text file format if the collateral description exceeds 300 characters on a new UCC filing
(UCC1) or an amendment to an existing UCC filing (UCC3). The collateral description may be
provided via email, on a CD or USB flash drive or other media approved by the Secretary of
State".
Unacceptable formats are any Adobe Acrobat Reader Files, scanned images or Excel. If a collateral description is provided in any of the unacceptable formats, the filing must be rejected.For any legal questions or interpretations, we recommend you contact your attorney as we cannot provide legal advice.
After your document is filed and you receive the acknowledgment copy, please be sure to verify that the collateral is accurate. The CD will be retained for 30 days to allow you time to check the filing.
