Registering to Vote in Wyoming

The following information on registering to vote in Wyoming applies to any Wyoming county in which you reside.   • Be 18 years of age on Election Day;
  • Be a U.S. Citizen, as evidenced by providing proof of U.S. citizenship as noted below;
  • Be a resident of Wyoming, as evidenced by providing proof of Wyoming residency as noted below, and a resident of the precinct in which you register;
  • Be a bona fide resident of Wyoming for not less than thirty (30) days before the date of the election at which you offer to vote;
  • Provide your valid Wyoming driver's license;
    • If you do not have your current valid driver's license with you, you must provide the number and additional acceptable identification as noted below. To satisfy Wyoming's proof of citizenship requirement, you may use your Wyoming driver's license, provided it does not contain any indication that you are not a U.S. citizen;
    • If you have not been issued a Wyoming driver's license or yours is expired, you must provide:
      • A statement to that effect (on the Wyoming registration application);
      • The last four digits of your social security number;
      • Additional acceptable identification;
      • Proof of citizenship; and
      • Proof of Wyoming residency.
  • Not convicted of a felony, or if convicted, has had civil or voting rights restored;
  • Not be adjudicated mentally incompetent; and
  • Withdraw your voter registration from any other jurisdiction, if applicable (on the Wyoming registration application).

If you have neither a valid Wyoming driver's license nor a social security number, please indicate this by checking the appropriate box on the Voter Registration Application form and contact your county clerk.

Acceptable Identification may be any one or more of the following:

  • Wyoming Driver's License;
  • United States Passport;
  • Driver's License or Identification Card issued by the Federal Government, any State, or Outlying Possession of the United States;
  • A tribal ID of any Federally Recognized Tribe;
  • Photo Identification Card issued by the University of Wyoming, a Wyoming Community College, or a Wyoming Public School;
  • United States Military Card; or
  • Identification Card issued to a Dependent of a member of the United States Armed Forces.

OR


Any two or more of the following documents together shall constitute proof of the individual's identity:

  • Certification of United States Citizenship;
  • Certificate of Naturalization;
  • United States Military Draft Record or Selective Service Card or Record;
  • Voter's Registration Card from another State or County;
  • United States Social Security Card;
  • Certification of Birth Abroad issued by the Department of State;
  • Original or certified copy of a birth certificate bearing an official seal;
  • Any other form of identification issued by an official agency of the United States or a State; or
  • Void Wyoming driver's license or ID card issued by the State of Wyoming; or
  • Temporary driver's license or ID card issued by the State of Wyoming.

Proof of United States citizenship may be satisfied by any of the following:

  • A valid Wyoming driver's license or a valid Wyoming ID card, provided that the license or ID card does not contain any indication that you are not a U.S. citizen;
  • A valid tribal ID card issued by the governing body of the Eastern Shoshone Tribe or the Northern Arapaho Tribe of the Wind River Indian Reservation or any other federally recognized Indian Tribe, provided that it does not contain any indication that you are not a U.S. citizen;
  • A valid driver's license or ID card issued by any other state consistent with the REAL ID Act, provided that it does not contain any indication that you are not a United States citizen;
  • A valid United States Passport;
  • A certificate of U.S. citizenship;
  • A certificate of naturalization;
  • A U.S. military draft record or selective service registration acknowledgment card;
  • A consular report of birth abroad issued by the U.S. Department of State; or
  • An original or certified copy of a birth certificate in the U.S. bearing an official seal.

Proof of Wyoming Residency may be satisfied by any of the following:

  • Wyoming Driver's License;
  • United States Passport;
  • Driver's License or Identification Card issued by the Federal Government, any State, or Outlying Possession of the United States;
  • A tribal ID of any Federally Recognized Tribe;
  • Photo Identification Card issued by the University of Wyoming, a Wyoming Community College, or a Wyoming Public School;
  • United States Military Card;
  • Identification Card issued to a Dependent of a member of the United States Armed Forces;
  • Certification of United States Citizenship;
  • Certificate of Naturalization;
  • United States Military Draft Record or Selective Service Card or Record;
  • Voter's Registration Card from another State or County;
  • United States Social Security Card;
  • Certification of Birth Abroad issued by the Department of State;
  • Original or certified copy of a birth certificate bearing an official seal;
  • Any other form of identification issued by an official agency of the United States or a State;
  • Void Wyoming driver's license or ID card issued by the State of Wyoming;
  • Temporary driver's license or ID card issued by the State of Wyoming;
  • Any of the following, provided they are dated within 90 days from the date of registration:
    • Utility bill;
    • Bank statement;
    • Government check or pay stub;
    • Paycheck or pay stub;
    • Mortgage statement;
    • Housing verification form provided by the University of Wyoming, a Wyoming Community College, or a Wyoming public school;
    • Any other government document showing your name and address;
  • Any of the following, provided they are dated within 1 year from the date of registration:
    • Residential lease;
    • Contract or intake document from a residential care facility, such as a nursing home, assisted living facility, adult family home, or community-based residential facility;
    • Property tax bill or receipt;
    • Wyoming hunting or fishing license;
    • Wyoming vehicle registration; or
    • Communication on letterhead from a public or private social service agency verifying you are homeless and attesting to your residence for voter registration purposes.
  • Pursuant to W.S. 22-1-102(a)(lv), if you do not have the documents or other proof of residency specified by rule of the secretary of state, proof of residence may be established by a signed attestation that you are a bona fide resident of the State of Wyoming. The attestation shall be subject to verification by the County Clerk or Secretary of State.
  • Visit your county clerk's website to find locations in your county where you may register in person.
  • If you cannot register in person at any of your county's locations, you may register by mail. The following items are required when mailing in your registration application to your county clerk's office:
    • A completed Wyoming voter registration application (All applicants, except military and overseas citizens, must have this form notarized before mailing.); and
    • A copy of your acceptable identification, proof of United States citizenship, and proof of Wyoming residency, as noted in the sections above.
