Apostilles / Authentications

Records intended for international use may require an Apostille or Authentication Certification. Examples include, but are not limited to: birth certificates, death certificates, marriage licenses, powers of attorney, adoption documents, divorce decrees, diplomas, transcripts etc.

IMPORTANT: In-person apostille/authentication requests are processed by appointment only. Please call 307.777.7370 or email Apostilles@wyo.gov to schedule an appointment.

It is preferred that requests be submitted by mail (FedEx, UPS, USPS, etc.). Please enclose the request form, fee of $20/apostille or authentication, and prepaid return envelope or shipping label.

About Our Office

We have a long history of serving the public. Beginning in April 1869 with the appointment of the first Secretary of the Territory of Wyoming, Edward M. Lee, by United States President Ulysses S. Grant, this office has always served the public from the State Capitol Building. However, following the completion of the Capitol Renovation Project in 2019, the Office is now located at Herschler Building East, Suites 100 and 101.
